Microsoft Frontpage 2002 extensions - Customers with sites hosted on NewsGuy may use their favorite FTP and Publishing programs to develop, upload and edit their sites. This would include support for programs like FrontPage, Fusion, Go Alive, and more.

Use your own JavaServer, Servlet and CGI scripts - CGI programs frequently add a great deal of functionality to a site, and they can be easily installed and secured without effecting other sites. JavaServer Pages (JSP) and Servlet technologies provide quick and easy methods for incorporating dynamically generated content within your Web pages. Unlike Active Server Pages (ASP), which only work with Microsoft's IIS or Personal Web Servers, JSP technology is platform independent and doesn't run into the scalability limitations often associated with CGI. This technology is supported by all of our hosting packages, and offers developers flexibility as they design, deploy, and manage their sites.

Site & FTP password protection - Sites may contain many types of material, and a site owner may want to protect or restrict site access in total, or only within certain areas. Sites hosted on NewsGuy may establish password control down to the level of a directory. This control is for traffic via the web and is separate from ftp access control. If you currently host a site at NewsGuy, and would like to implement password protection, you can do so through your Account Control Panel area.

There may be times when a site owner wishes to permit file uploads and downloads to their site via the FTP protocol. Site administrators may elect to set and issue FTP access passwords to associates. This permits files to be uploaded or downloaded, but not executed on the servers. If you currently host a site at NewsGuy, and would like to implement FTP access controls, you can do so through your Account Control Panel area.
