Your computer's operating system contains a dialer that houses
all of your important Internet access
settings. It will automatically dial your modem to establish a
connection to the Internet, and the following instructions will
help you to configure your dialer to work with NewsGuy's Internet
service. If you have any questions please email our

Configuring
Your Windows XP Dialer:
1. Click the
Windows "Start" button and then "Control Panel". If you're running
Windows XP in classic mode, you will need to click the "Start" button
and then "Control Panel".
2. If you are in the Classic View mode, within the "Control
Panel", double-click the "Network Connections" icon. If you are in the
Category View mode, within the "Control Panel", click the "Network and
Internet Connections" category, click the "Network Connections" icon.
3. Click the "Create a new connection" icon to open the setup
wizard, and click the "Next" button. Select the "Connect to the
Internet" option, and click the "Next" button.
4. Select the "Set up my connection manually" option, and click
the "Next" button. Select the "Connect using a dial-up modem", and click
the "Next" button.
5. Type Newsguy in the "ISP Name" field, and click the "Next"
button.
6. Within the "Phone number" section, type the Newsguy dialup
number that is local to your area, and click the "Next" button.
To find a local dialup number in your area, please select your location
from the following menu:

7. Within the "User name" and "Password" sections, type your
"User name" and "Password" IDs exactly as they appeared in the
confirmation email you received when you purchased your Newsguy account.
8. Select the option "Use this account name and password when
anyone connects to the Internet from this computer".
9. DO NOT select the "Make this the default Internet connection"
or "Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection" options.
Click the "Next" button to continue.
10. A confirmation box will verify the successful creation of
your dialer. Select the option "Add a shortcut to this connection to my
desktop", and click the "Finish" button, which will create an icon for
the dialer on your desktop screen.
11. To start your Internet connection, double click the dialer
icon on your desktop screen. From there, check the "Save this user name
and password for the following users option", and select either of the
two options you prefer.
12. Click the "Dial" button, and a "Status" box will appear to
display the progress of your connection attempt. That box will disappear
once you've successfully established your Internet connection.
