Your computer's operating system contains a dialer that houses all of your important Internet access settings. It will automatically dial your modem to establish a connection to the Internet, and the following instructions will help you to configure your dialer to work with NewsGuy's Internet service. If you have any questions please email our support staff for assistance.

 Configuring Your Windows XP Dialer:

1. Click the Windows "Start" button and then "Control Panel". If you're running Windows XP in classic mode, you will need to click the "Start" button and then "Control Panel".

2. If you are in the Classic View mode, within the "Control Panel", double-click the "Network Connections" icon. If you are in the Category View mode, within the "Control Panel", click the "Network and Internet Connections" category, click the "Network Connections" icon.

9. DO NOT select the "Make this the default Internet connection" or "Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection" options. Click the "Next" button to continue.

10. A confirmation box will verify the successful creation of your dialer. Select the option "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop", and click the "Finish" button, which will create an icon for the dialer on your desktop screen.

11. To start your Internet connection, double click the dialer icon on your desktop screen. From there, check the "Save this user name and password for the following users option", and select either of the two options you prefer.

12. Click the "Dial" button, and a "Status" box will appear to display the progress of your connection attempt. That box will disappear once you've successfully established your Internet connection.
